Pantone's Colour of the Year...Ultra Violet

Just what exactly is PANTONE Colour of the Year?

Every year since 2000, the Pantone Color Institute selects a particular colour to be 'Colour of the Year.' This symbolic selection serves to represent the mood and attitude of what is taking place in our global culture.

Described as a 'provocative and thoughtful purple shade', Ultra Violet communicates originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking that points us toward the future.

Pantone has also thoughtfully created 8 color palettes to help you incorporate and pair this year's special shade, Ultra Violet! Throughout the year we will explore each palette and how the hues can cross-over into home decor, wedding accessories and other design trends. This week we look at....

Sitting side by side on the color wheel, Pantone describes these shades as 'like-minded hues...their spirited good humor and playful exuberance makes for easy and engaging color mixes.”

We think that this colour palette embraces the beautiful watercolour effect of hydrangea flowers!

These shades would be stunning for a spring wedding, especially when paired with our range of Personalised Wedding Name Place Cards in the colours of fuchsia, amethyst and purple!

 New Year, New You!

Trying to keep those New Year's resolutions can often be a tough endeavor. As the year roles on, the 'new year, new you' vendetta often starts to fizzle. This year, try focusing on resolutions that are not only logistically achievable but ones you will actually enjoy carrying out! To help you stay on course, detail the steps involved and your progress along the way.

Our Wooden Engraved Notebooks are the perfect place to keep track of your success! These A5 oak notebooks featuring a 'living hinge' spine come in a range of designs and colours and can be easily refilled with our lined or unlined paper pad inserts!

We particularly love our wooden notebooks with the lilac paper pad insert that captures a variation of the Ultra Violet trend!

It's All About the Flowers!

April Showers have definitely brought the May flowers to Edinburgh! Everywhere you look, the site of budding crocuses and daffodils as well as rows of gorgeous cherry blossoms line the historic city streets.

Hanami 花見

Did you know that the happiness and enjoyment of seeing blossoms in full bloom (in particular the cherry blossom) is a traditional Japanese custom known as Hanami? Our friends at Edinburgh World Heritage have shed some light on this intriguing concept.
If you are looking for the perfect place to take in these local floral beauties, why not take a stroll through Edinburgh's historic Royal Botanical Gardens?
The original garden was established in 1670 and during the 20th century acquired three Regional Gardens – the mountainous Benmore in Argyll; Dawyck in the wooded hills of the Scottish Borders and Logan on the Gulf Stream-warmed southern peninsula of Dumfries & Galloway. Together they represent one of the world’s largest living collections of plants!

The idea of edible flowers may sound a bit strange to some, but this trend is becoming more and more popular. Great British Chefs have compiled an array of trendy foods and drinks that incorporate everything from pansies and violets to lavender and rose.
